When I posted about my obsession with my feather necklace last week, I asked all of our Hello, Splendor readers if you had an obsession of your own… I got a great response! So, I’ll be posting your answers periodically. Here’s the first…

Fourth of July is this coming weekend and while thinking of how to celebrate I thought I’d ask some of my favorite people the question… “How do you show your patriotic passion in a modern way?” Here’s what they said:
We’re headed to the Jersey Shore to see the family… That’s right! The Jersey Shore! I get to meet my new nephew, Rocco (yup, he’s 120% Italian)! And, the rest of the fam will finally get to meet Maxton! And, thanks to our amazing house sitter, we can enjoy ourselves and not worry about the fur babies. But, don’t worry, I’ve got your posts for next week lined up and I’ll be blogging beachside. Can’t wait to share pictures of our vacation with you…
Where is your favorite vacation spot??

Now that Maxton is a little over six months old, I’m starting to get a little sentimental about him growing up. I have all of his tiny little newborn outfits that I just can’t part with. I don’t want to loan them out… I don’t want to throw them away… and Max will NEVER fit into them again! What’s a Mom to do?? When my grandfather passed away, my Grammy made teddy bears from his old robes for my mom and all of her siblings. Though I was young, It always stuck with me because it was such a heartfelt gesture.
I’ve found this really great site where you can send in your old baby clothes and they will make you a customized patchwork bear! Just like Grammy used to make. Now, the word patchwork sends chills down this modern mom’s spine… but, Max had such cool clothes that I think it will be a pretty rockin’ bear. It’ll be all about selectively pairing the fabrics. And, they’ll even add a date and personalize it. What an amazing keepsake…
They don’t call me ‘Rerun’ for nothing! When I find something I like, I wear the crap out of it. I’m going to start sharing my obsessions with you one by one. The things that I just can’t live without… The things that I know will make your life better! One of my current obsessions is my f. is for frank feather necklace. As you’ll see from the photo montage below, I can’t get enough. This necklace goes with just about everything I own and I get a compliment on it every single day that I wear it. At only $42 a pop, how could you pass it up? Looks pretty good on and it looks amazing layered!
Let me first just say that the pictures in the post (or lack thereof) is the result of A.) a missing husband/photographer who couldn’t be paid to be in our company that night, B.) far too much prosecco, and C.) having so much fun that you forgot to take pictures!
Here’s the short recap… We had an amazing time! We watched both Twilight and New Moon on DVD… and, when I say ‘watched’ I mean that it was playing in the background while we chatted and cackled. Remember all those recipes I told you about?? Well, I made most of them… But, the twi-hard pastry wrapped brie was a big hit. Lauren brought party favors: minty lip gloss (so it tasted like you’re kissing Edward – yes, that’s what she told us!) and a body lotion called Twilight Woods (so you can smell like Edward – again, yes, she said that, too!). It was just a fun night to be unapologetically geeky, girly, and, of course, a little raunchy.
The twi-hards consisted of Heather (PartyPantsDevers), Kelly (Fabulous K), Myself (Momma Splendor), Laura (Something Legit), & Lauren (Aspiring Kennedy).

Don’t you love a good garage sale or estate sale?? I do! But, these days, I just don’t have time to scour sales looking for finds. And, let’s be honest, I’m never the lucky one! I never score those amazing finds that I just can’t live without. I usually go home with a bunch of junk and regrets. Well, I’ve found a solution to my little problem. Two Art Directors and a Photographer (Jamie, Larry, & Elizabeth – their name says it all!) offers an amazingly well-edited selection of cool finds. They are ‘those people’ who have a good eye and score major loot… I’d say it’s luck, but from the look of my friend Jamie’s facebook page (where she constantly taunts me with her incredible scores), instead I’d say you could chock it up to hard work and an experienced and creative eye! Take a look at some of my favorite finds from their etsy site:
Also, take a look at their other Etsy sites, as well… A White Widow & You Like. Pretty incredible!
What is Pin It Forward?? Well, it’s the brain child of sfgirlbybay where 300 bloggers join together in a blogger mashup to tell you What Home Means To Me, all while blogging and pinning their inspiration on Pinterest. Mouthful? Yes. Genius?? YES! It’s all about sharing your inspiration and passing it off to the next blogger in the mashup to create a network and generate interest. Without further ado… Here is what home means to me:
Be sure to visit my Pinterest board to see more inspiration. Thanks to What Is Design? for passing the blog torch to me. And, be sure to visit Pretty {much} Art tomorrow for their Pin It Forward post.
This week hasn’t been as crazy as the past couple, but just as busy! Today I am wrapping up this week and looking to next week… we start our vacation at the end of next week and I could not be more excited! Here are a few little bits and baubles from this week…
1. Hello, Splendor hit 100 followers this week! I’m so excited in how far we’ve come since the blog was started less than two months ago. Thank you to all of you for being a part of this… and, a big e-hug to our 100th follower, Kendall!
2. Speaking of Kendall, she posted a Hello, Splendor shot, by the amazing Kevin Dotolo, promoting the new Meddlesome Moth over on the Lower Oak Lawn blog.
3. There are, not one, but TWO Hello, Splendor giveaways happening right now!! This one ends today… so hurry and enter! And this one ends tomorrow… Go. Run. Enter!
4. My cousin by marriage (our husbands are cousins!) blogged about our The Splendid List: Father’s Day post… Go check out her blog! She is an amazing lady, married to celebrity chef Vinny Dotolo, and her blog always peaks my interest.
5. While this might not matter to many of you, I know that some of you will be excited to read this news. It made my week.
6. Max is getting really close to crawling… He just started doing the army crawl this week. So, unfortunately, I had to order one of these this week. Bleh. But, I thought it was one of the better options!
7. Oh, and I pre-ordered the new iPhone 4! Talk about making my week… CAN. NOT. WAIT.
