Objects of Splendor :: Hand-Dyed Linen

Nov 30

These stunning pillows and totes stopped me in my tracks when the One Sydney Road shop launched! I found myself peering through the pages of this amazing new online shop, wanting everything I clicked on. Piper, from the One Sydney Road blog, curated an incredible collection of items for her new shop. But, these hand-dyed linen pieces had me swooning… I need that orange tote. And bad!!

Splendid Little Ones :: Short Hats

Nov 30
You wouldn’t think it would be so hard to find a hat for a baby or toddler that’s both stylish & functional… but it is!! I recently came across Short Hat Company… and, I think Max needs one of each… to protect him from the elements, of course. I mean, that’s what I’m going to tell his father, anyways. Did I mention that they source organic and renewable fibers? There’s nothing better than doing good and looking good doing it. Hats off to you, Short Hats!

The Splendid List :: Holiday Gift Guide :: Shari of Little Blue Deer

Nov 29
Meet Shari…
The amazing mind behind Little Blue Deer
She is sharing her favorite holiday picks with us… and, they’re good ones! Take a look…
The Anthropologie “By the Fire” chemiseI LOVE to give and receive pajamas as gifts!  More intimate, but less personal than giving clothing, I would give this elegant yet comfy nightie to any of my girlfriends!  I think it’s so understated chic!”

“These super-hip suede cap toe sneakers are made by one of the coolest companies I know, Brooklyn Circus!  They’re a bit on the expensive side, but then again, isn’t having the hippest boyfriend or husband on the block priceless?!”

This darling Baby Gap mini fur coat!  It’s clear that I have no children of my own, isn’t it?  I can just hear all of my mommy blogger friends saying “Babies don’t need fur coats!”  But they do!  They do!  Love this, and would love an adult-sized one for myself!”

“Don’t leave your favorite furry friend behind when New Year’s Eve rolls around!  Kitty will be ready to party in her very own feather boa!”

“I seriously couldn’t decide which of Melinda Maria’s rings I most wanted for myself!  I picked this one, but Mr. Deer is more than welcome to purchase any one of her stunning collection and I will be happy!  You’re reading this, right, Mr. Deer?  Right?”

*I had such a fun time putting together my virtual Christmas shopping list!  Thank you so much, Beth, for having me, and a very happy holiday to all of my darling bloggers!*

Thanks so much for being a part of The Splendid List Holiday Gift Guide, Shari!
Please be sure to visit her blog: Little Blue Deer!

Thirty Before 30 :: A Family Portrait

Nov 29
Happy Monday!! I wanted to jump in and share with you my favorite part of the weekend…
We took our first family portrait this weekend, spurred on by my Thirty Before 30 list. And, let me tell you, it pays to have photographers as friends! Poor Kevin is always behind the lens, so our good friend Steven Visneau – an incredible photographer – took our family pics for us! We wanted a more editorial look to our shots that was more casual, and less posed. Honestly, they could not have turned out better. Steve totally captured the essence of our family. Sorry for the tease… but, I honestly can’t wait to share them with you!!
Thank you, Steve!

5 bits and baubles… Shop Small!

Nov 26

I thought I would dedicate this week’s bits and baubles post to the new Small Business Saturday movement! I want to share some of my favorite small businesses. These are shop owners, designers, and craftsman that all happen to be incredible women! I may have talked about them before… but that’s because I really believe in them! Check them out for yourself…

So, are you braving the shops today on Black Friday??
Not me! I’m staying as far away as possible! And, I’m shopping small!

A Must-Read Blog :: Perfect Last Bite!

Nov 24
You must read this blog:
Here’s why:
Have you ever known someone who followed their passion with reckless abandon? Well, my friend JK has a successful career in the fashion industry and an incredible music career (I mean, really! Have you heard of The Polyphonic Spree? Well, just watch). But, her true passion is food… cooking food, serving food to friends, styling food, talking about food. If it’s about food, my sweet friend’s eyes light up… and, now, she’s pursuing a career in food and sharing her pursuit with all of us.
It’s quite simply… inspiring.
JK is incredibly knowledgeable about all things culinary. She shares recipes, food experiences, restaurants, tips & tricks… and more!
And, just in the knick of time, she just so happens to be doing a foodie’s guide to Thanksgiving!
I would love it if you showed her some support by following her blog…

Thirty Before 30 :: See Live Local Music

Nov 24
So, for this Thirty Before 30 adventure, I headed out intending to see my friends band, J. Charles and the Train Robbers. Unfortunately, my coach turned into a pumpkin at midnight when my babysitter’s clock ran out and we missed them play! But, what we did see what a treat! This bluegrass band, called Petal Shop, was on their Whistle Stop Tour, where they basically take the bus to different cities and find a place to play. They were amazing and inspiring and I’m so glad I caught the show… It made me think a lot about what people will do when they are passionate and believe in their art.

Life of Splendor :: The Long Weekender

Nov 24

Aside from the amazing food and time with family, my favorite part of Thanksgiving weekend is the fact that it’s a loooong weekend! Instead of hitting the stores this weekend, I plan on having a leisurely and relaxing time. I think I’m going to just be with family and tend to me… or try to, at least!

What are your plans for the long weekend??
