Finding Splendor :: Creating an Inspiration Wall

This is the start of my new project, Finding Splendor, where I’m taking on 16 projects for Spring to inspire happiness!

This weekend I will be working to create an inspiration wall in my home office. When you’re in the throws of the hustle and bustle of work it’s important to have a place to not only display your creativity, but also to have an outlet for your ideas and inspiration.

Chalkboard paint. I know, I know. Everyone is doing it… Hell, I’ve done it! But, you know what? I still love it. Can’t wait to see how it turns out… and can’t wait to share!

What is your outlet for creativity??

Splendid Dwellings :: Jeff Lewis Collection

Did you know Jeff Lewis had a collection of pillows, lighting, & wallpaper?? I didn’t! I just love Jeff Lewis. Let’s be honest, though. I’m hardly Flipping Out over his collection. It’s not incredibly interesting or eye catching, but I must say, I really love his basic patterns as a base for working in color and more fun & funky patterns. My favorite is the wallpaper shown above! Would love to get my hands on some of that…

What do you think of his collection?
Do you love it or did you have higher hopes for his line?

The Splendid List :: Happy St Patricks Day

“I am a big fan of Kate Spade’s bright colors & classic feminine look season to season. I am in love with these super cute green striped Lido shoes. They are chic & stylish and comfy which is important for the big parade day! I am thinking skinny cropped jeans and a green tee to match! Perfectly ready for Spring! Cheers <3″
-Patti

Tangier Frame Print by Schumacher in the Sea Grass colorway is amazing!  Would love to build a room around it. I am seeing a pair of chairs upholstered in it- good thing- it’s an indoor outdoor fabric so it’s perfect for families with kids and dogs!  Happy St. Patty’s Day!”
-Laura
“The item I selected is this gorgeous ‘Collier Grand’ Necklace from Anthropologie. It’s handmade in France, and I love the chunky beads and ribbon strap. It would be the perfect edition to a simple white tee with a great pair of jeans and a nude pump.”

-Niki
“I love coffee. I also love a bold graphic print. My two favorites to come together in this silkscreen artwork by mengsel. I know it would make me smile to see this handmade print around the house, and perk me up just like a morning cup of java. Done in bright green, it’s all the more festive and my top pick for a decorative celebration of St. Patrick’s Day.”
– Carla

“I have never really been one to wear green on St. Patrick’s Day.  I was always that annoying, attention-seeking girl who didn’t wear it and enjoyed getting pinched.  Not much has changed.  I rarely wear green and especially not on St. Patty’s Day for some reason, but I sure will make and eat some green cupcakes!…big fat green velvet cupcakes, to be exact.  I followed this recipe, obviously using green coloring instead of red, then topped with sprinkles.  I never really need a reason to make cupcakes, but this was a fun excuse!”

How do you sport green on St. Patricks Day??

[5 bits and baubles] to get your week started…

[SIP] With lent in full swing & a ban on juck food, I’ve found some new smoothie recipes in the latest Food Network Magazine! Right now I’m sipping on the Melon Smoothie… Just 2 cups of melon with 1 cup almond milk & a cup of ice. Delicious!
[WEAR] Loving this jacket from the latest Boden catalog!
[WANT] I want an iPad 2 more than anything! (Dramatic, I know) I don’t fixate on things too often, but this is one of them. Kevin gave me the option to get an iPad or switch my blog to WordPress. Oh, responsibility. sigh.
[CONNECT] Just posted a new album to the Hello, Splendor facebook page of all my blogging friends. There are some cute & hilarious pics in there & some people you may recognize!
[GIVE] Please join me in my fight against Cystic Fibrosis. It’s my 6th year participating in the foundation and this year with the disaster in Japan & the economy I’ve been having trouble finding donors. Even just $5 can make a difference. Donate here… Pretty please?
Happy Monday!
What’s that one thing you’re fixated on getting for yourself??

Finding Splendor :: Spring Projects to Inspire Happiness

After I took on my Thirty Before 30 project last year, I have been yearning to force myself to take time to unplug and just do something… something for myself… something for others… just something that will inspire happiness. So, I’m re-creating this project for myself!

Each season I’ll take on a new set of challenges and tasks that are focused on learning something new, doing something for others, connecting, or just overall self-improvement.

This Spring is focused on doing & creating:
1. plant an herb garden
2. cross stitch
3. create a space for family time in the back yard
4. host an intimate cocktail party
5. hand write letters to loved ones
6. make the perfect lasagna from scratch
7. create an inspiration wall
8. donate anything I haven’t worn in a year
9. take a picnic at the arboretum
10. make jewelry for a friend
11. create a floral arrangement from scratch
12. make homemade candy
13. host a girl-only poker night
14. create a book of max’s first year
15. take a cooking class
16. beautify our home office
Wish me luck!! And… be inspired.
